About The Project

Isthmus Architecture, Inc. and Strang Inc. completed a Facility Needs Assessment for the First Unitarian Society Meeting House in 1999. The scope of this study included an investigation of building components and systems for three separate structures, encompassing 18,000 square feet. The team researched and documented repairs, modifications and alterations made to the building since its original construction. Isthmus Architecture and Strang assessed the mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, building code compliance, and interior and exterior materials and components. The team developed general recommendations and preservation recommendations as well as cost estimates for each area of potential work.

The First Unitarian Society’s Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Meeting House was designated a National Historic Landmark in 2002.
